Border Protection
Command (BPC), has assumed responsibility for operational coordination and
control of both civil and military maritime enforcement activities within
Australia’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The BPC is staffed by military and
civilian officials from Defence, Customs, the Australian Fisheries Management
Authority (AFMA) and the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS).
