Montenegrin PM: Germany an Important European Partner of Montenegro

Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic met with the members of the German Bundestag Southeast Europe Delegation who welcomed Montenegro’s EU integration efforts and the messages of support and encouragement from the recent NATO Summit in Chicago.

Germany is an important European partner of Montenegro, and it supports and encourages the country’s development in many areas.

“It is highly important for us to make good and fruitful Montenegro-Germany relations traditional,” PM stressed.

The Government is committed to the recovery and further development of Montenegro’s economy, and to the fulfilment of the requirements for EU and NATO membership, PM Luksic said.

"This is the time of major challenges that any crisis-struck economy is handling and the responsible approach requires pursuing structural reforms which will have long term positive effects on the country," PM Luksic said.

He highlighted that the European Commission’s recommendation for the opening of accession talks with Montenegro, the message of encouragement from Chicago NATO Summit, as well as numerous reports, such as those of the World Economic Forum, the Transparency International, the Freedom House and the World Bank, indicate that Montenegro has been making progress in all areas.

PM Luksic remarked that the Government remains dedicated to creating a business environment that is attractive to potential investors and new entrepreneurship, adding that the economic diversification create opportunities for investments in all fields, primarily in energy, tourism and agriculture.
