UK searching for two BAE-146 jets for Afghanistan service

The UK's Ministry of Defence is understood to looking to acquire two BAE146 regional jets for use in Afghanistan.

Tender documents are likely to be released this week with a call for the pair to be acquired and modified under an urgent operational requirement deal.

The deal could be valued at around $9.3 million.

This could be partially fill a looming capability gap caused by the gradual retirement of the RAF's remaining Lockheed Martin C-130K tactical transports and the delayed introduction of a new fleet of 22 Airbus Military A400Ms.
