Lockheed Martin rolls-out first C-130J-30 for South Korea

Lockheed Martin rolls-out first C-130J-30 for South Korea

The first of four Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Hercules tactical transport aircraft for South Korea was unveiled at the company's Marietta production facility in Georgia in late June.

The aircraft, Lockheed Martin aircraft number 5730, was shown sporting its official tri-colour camouflage paint scheme ahead of flight testing and delivery in 2014.

In an era where most military aircraft around the world are painted low-visibility grey, the Republic of Korea Air Force's (RoKAF's) decision to retain a camouflage pattern probably reflects the tactical nature of the aircraft's future mission - flying low to the ground where the primary threat is from enemy fighters flying high above.
