PZL-Świdnik takes AW149 Military Helicopter on demo tour of Poland

The AW149 Military Helicopter Debuts Over Warsaw’s Skies. PZL-Świdnik SA, an AgustaWestland company, is pleased to announce the new generation AW149 military helicopter’s outstanding capabilities have officially been presented to a number of national and local dignitaries at Warsaw-Babice Airport.

The two-day long demonstrations of the latest generation multi-purpose AW149 helicopter over Warsaw is part of an initial tour of this state-of-the-art aircraft in Poland aimed at showing its outstanding characteristics as the best Polish solution to meet the national Armed Forces requirements. Demonstrations were initially performed at the Dęblin Airbase few days before.

The AW149 is a 21st century’s helicopter, a latest generation twin-engine aircraft featuring outstanding performance and capabilities. AW149 is a platform designed for several applications, such as peace missions, combat support operations, tactical transport of troops and materials, SAR and CSAR, MEDEVAC/CASEVAC, command and control.

The AW149 has a chance to open up a brand new chapter in the history of the Polish aviation industry and of the Świdnik-based plant. PZL-Świdnik has participated in the design works since their very beginning involving several engineers within the framework of the AW149 programme. A Polish-designed product, the AW149 can be manufactured and supported for the future needs of the Polish Armed Forces in PZL-Świdnik, the only Polish aviation company to design, develop and produce advanced rotorcraft technologies and products.

Nicola Bianco, Managing Director of PZL-Świdnik SA, said during the presentation “The AW149 helicopter is the most advanced response to the future demanding operational challenges of the Polish military. It is the only latest-generation helicopter in its class, a combination of innovative solutions backed by long lasting and established experience shared in the framework of the European defence industry. Introducing the AW149 to the Polish local/national institutional and military representatives and dignitaries as well as Universities prove the best occasion to show how this product can remarkably and quickly enhance the role played by the nation in the aerospace sector if chosen to meet the future Polish military requirements.”

PZL-Świdnik is the only Polish company with full capabilities to design, develop and produce helicopters of its own design. It also has its own Research and Development Centre. The Company, with more than 3500 employees, is the biggest aviation manufacturer in Poland and one of the biggest employers in Lubelszczyzna. PZL-Świdnik has been a part of AgustaWestland since 2010.
