Crash Of C-101 In Spain Kills 2 Pilots
The Defense Ministry says a Spanish air force plane on a training mission has crashed in a field northeast of the capital, killing both people aboard.
The ministry says the Spanish-built C-101 a small training version of a fighter plane went down Thursday in a field in Alcala de Henares, a town 30 kilometers (20 miles) northeast of Madrid.
It was carrying a flight instructor and a student. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
The ministry said it had no other details on the accident.
The newspaper El Pais quoted a witness as saying the plane had been "wobbling" and making an odd sound before it crashed.
