Elbit Systems wins IAF Flight Academy awards

Elbit Systems wins IAF Flight Academy awards

Elbit Systems has been awarded two follow-on contracts by the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD) for the operation and maintenance of the Israeli Air Force’s (IAF’s) Flight Academy trainer aircraft and helicopters.

The company detailed the contracts, which cover logistics and maintenance services, on 14 January.

The first contract will see Elbit Systems provide full logistics and maintenance services on a ‘power by the hour’ basis for the Bell 206 Sayfan and operational level maintenance for Cobra AH-1A Tzefa helicopters. This is a follow-on contract to an agreement signed in 2004.

The second contract is a follow-on to a 2009 award, which will see the company supply maintenance services for the Hawker-Beechcraft T-6 Efroni trainer aircraft.

Yoram Shmuely, co-general manager of Elbit Systems' Aerospace Division, said: ‘The decision to renew the contracts for these operation and maintenance programmes attests to the [Israeli] MoD and the IAF's high level of satisfaction with the service, availability, usability and flight safety achieved throughout the programmes to date, ranking Elbit Systems high in the IAF's quality and performance criteria.

’We are witnessing a growing global trend toward privatisation of training operation and management, and we hope that our experience and reputation achieved in projects tailored for the IAF will enhance our ability to obtain similar projects worldwide.’

Both contracts will enter into effect during 2014 following completion of the previously awarded contracts.
