German Air Force Tornado RECCE

37 Tornado aircraft of the German Air Force have been equipped with an external reconnaissance pod for tactical reconnaissance purposes.

These are known as Tornado RECCE. They can be deployed day and night in any weather conditions.

The "Recce pod" is basically compatible with all modern combat aircraft. It has two KS153A optical cameras from Zeiss, a Honeywell infrared line scanner, the Honeywell Recce Management System as well as digital data recording equipment (Ampex). Thanks to the modular design of the pod, modernization is possible at any time.
