Spec ops AC-130s stayed busy in April
Air Force special operations AC-130 gunships continue to be a steady presence over Iraq and Afghanistan, according to numbers from the Air Force.
Over both countries in April, gunships flew 124 sorties and logged 639 hours, enough flights to have three gunships on station every night for seven hours each.
Overall, Air Force Special Operations Command planes logged 1,119 hours on 255 sorties during operations for CentCom. In March, the aircraft flew 1,176 hours.
Here, by aircraft model, are April’s flight hours and sorties. The March totals are in parentheses.
* AC-130H Spectre: 208 (207) hours, 37 (40) sorties.
* AC-130U Spooky: 431 (398) hours, 87 (83) sorties.
* MC-130H Combat Talon II: 130 (155) hours, 40 (45) sorties.
* MC-130P Combat Shadow: 151 (199) hours, 45 (47) sorties.
* MH-53J/M Pave Low: 199 (217) hours, 53 (66) sorties.
