Swiss Air Force receives first two Hermes 900 UAVs

The Swiss Air Force has received its first two Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicles from Elbit Systems.
The Swiss Air Force has taken delivery of its first two Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Israeli manufacturer Elbit Systems, marking a significant milestone in Switzerland's military modernization program.
The Hermes 900 is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV designed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. The system can operate for extended periods and provides real-time intelligence gathering capabilities.
Switzerland ordered six Hermes 900 systems as part of its effort to enhance its aerial reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities. The UAVs will be operated by the Swiss Air Force and will replace older reconnaissance systems.
The Hermes 900 features advanced sensors, satellite communications, and can operate in various weather conditions. It has a maximum takeoff weight of approximately 1,180 kg and can carry multiple payloads simultaneously.
The delivery of these first two systems represents the beginning of the Swiss Air Force's transition to modern UAV capabilities, with the remaining systems expected to be delivered in the coming months.
