The original plan was to fly to Turkey with a tanker, but due to the tanker cancelling our arrangement the alternate plan came into effect which was to land in Italy for a fuel stop. At 10:00 all 4 demo F-16's took off and headed for Italy. After making a fuel stop in Gio Del Colle airbase the 4-ship continued to Izmir, Turkey. At arrival the team was greeted by the team's technical crew who had arrived earlier by Belgium C-130… The power of teamwork was demonstrated once again!
At 8 o'clock Hitec flew the rehearsal around sunset which gave some nice picture opportunities for the spotters present at the field.
The next morning the 100th anniversary of the Turkish air force air show started under bright sunny skies and high temperatures. Around 2 o' clock Hitec took off for a high-show with flares.
Due to the special occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish air force, the commander in chief of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, General Jansen was present as well and the team had the honor of greeting the general at our stand.
During the afternoon the team experienced busy times at the stand. This resulted in lots of articles being sold out soon!
Sunday was another hot and sunny day which gave the opportunity for another high show to be flown. Those articles left in stock were practically all sold as well. At the end of the day the team enjoyed a very well organized party with lots of good food, music and good times.
Monday afternoon Hitec , Chunky, Joyce and Mitch took off and headed back home.
