Nigerian Air Force sacks bomb factory in Kogi

OKENE, headquarters of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State was turned to a war zone at the weekend, when Nigerian Air Force fighter bombed the hideout of suspected terrorists and their bomb factory located in a cave at a mountain.

Nigerian Tribune gathered on Sunday that in a joint operation, the Air Force, together with the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Police and the State Security Service (SSS), stormed the cave in a mountain at Usome, a community in Okene where the bomb factory was located.

Sources close to the security agents disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune that after the raids in Kabba, Okene and Ogaminana respectively, which led to the discovery of bomb factory, the security agents in the state did not relent in their efforts to chase the terrorists out the state.

The mountain was bombarded by the Air Force fighter, while items recovered included gas cylinder, 43 fabricated bomb canisters, double barrel gun and one 1.5 KVA electric generating set.

Others were iron grinder, wires, ammonia, gun powder, time bomb devices, remote starters for motorbikes, batteries, iron cutters, clamp, welding material, gloves, super glue, tools, bottles, syringe and needles, among others.

The source said no arrest was made during the operation which lasted several hours, while no casualty was recorded during the operation.
