Nigerian Air Force Gets More Helicopters

Nigerian Air Force Gets More Helicopters

Out-going Air Officer commanding Logistics Command, Ikeja Lagos, Air Vice Marshal Chris Obinna Marizu has disclosed that more helicopters were being expected to improve the Nigerian Air Force combat readiness, with the aim of lifting the Force to greater heights.

Air Vice Marshal Marizu who made the disclosure during the hand-over ceremony at the logistics command headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos, however apologized to those he must have offended in the course of what he described as his push to achieve the aim of establishing the command.

He noted that the achievement made in the areas of manpower development, facilities and infra- structural maintenance and regimental/social activities during his tenure, could not have been made possible without the active support of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Paul Dike.

Describing as exciting, his two- year tenure as the AOC which he attributed to the contribution and tirelessness of the commanders under him, in their quota towards the realisation of the CAS vision, he urged that such gesture be extended to his successor.

Though he pointed out that being the commander of the logistic command was a challenging task, he expressed confidence in his successor's capability of handling the mantle of leadership.

The out-going AOC who was among the officers that were affected in the latest major posting effected by the Nigerian Air Force headquarters, is expected to assume office at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja , as the Chief of Policy and Plans.
In his response, the in-coming AOC, Air Vice Marshal Adekunle Awarun, promised to do his best to take the command to the desired destination, appealing to his predecessor not to hesitate to assist him whenever he was called on and also sought the cooperation of his men in actualizing the dream of the Chief of Air Staff.
