Two Pilots Safely Eject After F-15 Incident in Illinois

U.S. Air Force investigating runway mishap involving F-15QA slated for Qatar transfer

Two U.S. Air Force pilots ejected safely from an F-15 fighter jet on Tuesday morning after the aircraft left the runway during landing at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah, Illinois, military officials confirmed.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m., with both active-duty pilots sustaining minor injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital, where one has since been released, according to Scott Air Force Base officials.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing F-15QA, a variant designed for the Qatar Emiri Air Force. Earlier this year, Scott Air Force Base announced that MidAmerica would host F-15QA operations and training for Qatari student pilots.

In a statement, the U.S. Air Force noted that the jet “was slated to be transferred to the Qatari Air Force through the Foreign Military Sales program.” The cause of the incident is currently under investigation
