This inventory represents shared capabilities held by NATO contributors collectively rather than as part of specific national inventories. These assets provide the Alliance with critical strategic advantages in airborne early warning, ground surveillance, and long-range logistics.

Strategic Note: By 2026, NATO's collective air power is characterized by a significant shift toward fifth-generation integration and autonomous persistence. The Alliance continues to modernize its shared fleets, specifically transitioning the AEW&C component from the legacy E-3A Sentry to the E-7A Wedgetail. Following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, NATO has reinforced its Eastern Flank with increased air policing and deterrence missions, supported by these collective assets. Furthermore, the accession of Finland and Sweden has expanded the logistical and operational reach of NATO’s pooled capabilities, such as the Multinational MRTT Fleet, which now serves a larger number of signatory nations. Shared facilities, such as the upgraded Kuçova Air Base in Albania, now serve as tactical hubs for these integrated regional operations.
