Canadair (Northrop) CF-5D Freedom Fighter
: Two-seat trainer version for the Venezuelan Air Force (1).
# Canadian-built (Canadair) variant designated CF-116 in Canadian service. Powered by 4,300-lb (1,950-kg) static thrust J85-CAN-15 turbojets, extensible nose legs. CF-5As are single-seat fighters, CF-5Ds are two-seaters. Some CF-5A's can be fitted with a Vinten 70mm camera nose and are then designated CF-5A(R). The CF-5A's can also be fitted with refuelling probes, but neither these nor the reconnaissance nose can be carried by the two-seat CF-5D's. The RF-5A reconnaissance version is equipped with four KS-92A cameras mounted in the nose. Venezuela operates a mix of single and two-seat F-5's known locally as CF-5A and CF-5D's.
