Northrop Grumman Awarded B-2 Tailpipe Spares Contract

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has awarded the Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) a contract to deliver spare assets in support of the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber.

The $76 million sole-source contract has a performance period of eight years and will be managed from Oklahoma City.

"Northrop Grumman prides itself on applying innovative logistical solutions," said Chris Jones, vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Integrated Logistics and Modernization division. "With the corporation's legacy as the B-2 original equipment manufacturer, we're proud to be performing this work for the U.S. Air Force on this most valuable national asset."

The U.S. Air Force's stealth bomber is the flagship of the nation's long-range strike arsenal and one of the most survivable aircraft in the world
. Its unique capabilities, including its stealth characteristics, allow it to penetrate the most sophisticated defenses and hold at risk high value, heavily defended enemy targets. The B-2 has demonstrated its capabilities in several combat scenarios, most recently during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

"Our customer will benefit greatly from the reestablishment of a production capability in support of immediate spares replenishment," said Jim Gerdes, B-2 Tailpipe program manager for Northrop Grumman Technical Services. "Our customer and platform intimacy will ensure both the quality and success of this program."

Northrop Grumman is a leading global security company providing innovative systems, products and solutions in aerospace, electronics, information systems, and technical services to government and commercial customers worldwide.
