US ANG F-15’s blown tire closes commercial runway

A Port of Portland spokeswoman says an F-15 fighter jet blew a tire while landing at Portland International Airport, prompting officials to temporarily close a runway while the debris was cleaned up.

Spokeswoman Kama Simonds told The Oregonian that commercial air traffic wasn't affected Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

The Oregon Military Department says the 142nd Fighter Wing of the Oregon National Guard is taking part in F-15 night-flying exercises this week. The exercises began Monday and will last until Thursday.
