GROB G120TP wins competition to supply Indonesian AF with future trainer aircraft

GROB G120TP wins competition to supply Indonesian AF with future trainer aircraft

Grob Aircraft, with its new and revolutionary, turbo-prop powered, Grob G 120TP has secured an important new customer in Asia by winning the selection competition to supply the Indonesian Air Force with its future trainer aircraft. Deliveries will commence in 2012.

The Grob G 120TP, now viewed as the most highly advanced and cost-effective military ‘trainer of choice’ for the 21st Century was chosen by the Indonesian Air Force in the face of fierce competition from the Finmeccanica SF-260TP and the Pacific Aerospace CT-4.

Asia is seen by Grob as a key region with the potential for several other Air Forces to follow the example set by Indonesia, to procure the G 120TP and thereby deliver to their Training Organisations the highest possible advanced training potential at the lowest possible operating and maintenance cost. Grob is supplying the G 120TP to the Indonesian Air Force with a fully integrated, maintenance support contract.

The Indonesian Air Force will operate the G 120TP in the Elementary and Basic Training roles but the innovative ‘system of systems’ training approach that the G 120TP represents, as a complete package, will encompass computer based ground training, mission briefing/debriefing and advanced, state of the art, embedded cockpit simulation.

The G 120TP flight performance and embedded cockpit training simulations will allow any Air Force, for the first time, to have the ability to truly use a single platform to train and stream student pilots for rotary, transport and fast jet types and all from Day 1. This revolutionary aircraft and concept will be able to take all these 21st Century student pilots to ‘Wings’ level and far beyond, up towards the 21st Century aircraft types that they will fly in the front line.

Grob is also offering total ’21st Century Turn Key’ operations for the G 120TP that will deliver the complete training and operating system including the aircraft, line support, maintenance support and simulators. In this way, any potential Air Force can concentrate on the flying whilst Grob takes care of everything else on a ‘power by the hour’ lease basis. This innovative Grob approach can dramatically reduce future defence budgets for both support and procurement and is set to also revolutionise how training cost is delivered.

GROB G120TP INFORMATION:

G 120 TP - The intelligent training solution of the 21st century

The G 120TP symbolizes the 21st century evolution of basic flight training.

Simplicity in pilot operation and system functions make the G 120TP the only sophisticated mission training platform that can accommodate typical elementary, basic and advanced pilot training segments.

The cost efficiency of the G 120TP redefines training cost and budgets. High performance, full Virtual Tactical Training capability including HOTAS, combined with high dispatch reliability make the G120 TP not only the most cost efficient solution for the future, but also the best integrated training system overall.

Safety is not compromised with the new light weight Ejection Seat by Martin Baker, securing the operators future pilot investment. GROB Aircraft AG´s integration of the reliable RR 250-B17F turbine provides a power upgrade while eliminating the need of multiple fuels.
G 120TP is the only side by side military training aircraft certified in the 21st century with full aerobatic and military training capability.

Turbine powered high performance combined with operating simplicity makes the G 120TP the ideal platform for learning the first steps of flying all the way to pushing the envelope at 6g during the aerobatic training phase.
